Services

We provide the following services

Rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, are group of more than 100 disorders that affect various body organs in addition to joint destruction. These conditions are mostly chronic and can affect patients of all ages. Many of these conditions are not curable but accurate diagnosis and early aggressive treatment can help minimize joint damage and also preserve body functions resulting in a better quality of life.

If your joint pains and associated symptoms are not improving on conventional medications a rheumatologist may be able to help diagnose your condition. At Cary Rheumatology, we provide consultation on diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment for the full spectrum of rheumatic conditions. Below is a small list of some of the conditions we treat:

(We do not follow and are unable to provide services to patients with a diagnosis of Chronic Pain Syndrome or Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Please consider referral to Pain Management clinics for such conditions.)

ORENCIA (abatacept)
REMICADE (infliximab)
SIMPONI ARIA (golimumab)

Joint Injection & Ultrasound Guided Injection: Traditional joint injection or aspiration will be considered and performed for therapeutic reasons. In addition, we also provide ultrasound guided joint injections or aspirations, which allow for the direct visualization of the needle, ensuring accurate needle placement and offer greater margin of safety. Cary Rheumatology has trained providers to perform these procedures.

Diagnostic Ultrasound: Ultrasound of joints is a useful resource for diagnosing and monitoring disease. Most rheumatological conditions focus on small joints such as hands and feet, which can be helpful when diagnosis is difficult to make with X-Rays and other resources. This modality is very cost-effective, simple, and painless.

Viscosupplementation Therapy for Arthritis: De-generative joint disease is a progressive condition with a step-up approach of treatment. After attempting corticosteroid knee injections, a viscous preparation of hyaluronic acid (HA) similar to a gel may be injected into the joint. This treatment lubricates the knee joint and reduces pain while prolonging the longevity of the joint. (Read More)
